At The Goring Dining Room, the menu is a jubilant celebration of British cuisine. Diners rave about signature dishes, including the stunning Goring egg drumkilbo, a favorite of the late Queen Elizabeth II. The scallops and duck are praised for their flawless cooking and perfect textures, encapsulating the essence of culinary excellence. Kenneth Leung's review speaks volumes, as he describes the overall experience as “amazing” and fitting for its Michelin distinction.
For those with a sweet tooth, the dessert offerings are equally delightful. While some may find the chestnut cream with blackcurrant jelly a tad sour, the intricate balance of flavors showcased in other dishes demonstrates the kitchen's skill and creativity. Each dish tells a story, artfully prepared to tantalize the palate.
The Goring Dining Room is not just a restaurant; it is a celebration of tradition and modernity delicately woven together. As one reviewer noted, the afternoon tea is a splendid affair—served in the beautiful Veranda overlooking a private garden, where the charm of the holiday season is palpable. Delicate pastries and expertly crafted sandwiches highlight the culinary finesse present here, making each bite a memorable experience.

“ I’ve visited the dining room yesterday where I had my birthday dinner. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Me and my fiancee felt comfortable from the beginning of our visit. As for the food I can tell that it was excellent and tasty. Also if you love the wine, the wine list is pretty long with remarkable quality wines ”
“ Gorgeous service and friendly staff, chatted about the restaurant’s renovation, food explanations, celebrations of my meal. The Goring egg drumkilbo was stunning, and learnt that it was the favorite dish of Queen Elizabeth. The scallops and duck were cooked absolutely right. Their textures were perfect. The chestnut cream with blackcurrant jelly was too sour to me. And felt like the strong taste of sour jelly dominated the taste of delicious chestnut cream, which the chestnut cream itself was great. The overall experience was amazing. Not surprised this is with Michelin distinction. Happy to visit again. ”
“ Flawless execution and service - pre theatre menu for as rich diverse and exquisite. Dessert was really too much already but overall I could rec to anyone trying to fit in a nice meal before theatre ”
“ The doorman, impeccably dressed and brimming with old-world charm, opened the grand doors with a smile that felt as though he had been waiting just for us. As we stepped inside, it was as if the spirit of Christmas itself had taken up residence in the lobby. A magnificent tree glittered, and garlands of greenery draped the entrance in holiday magic. Tea was served in the beautiful Veranda, a room that looks out onto the private garden—a patch of winter greenery that feels like a secret kept from the bustle of the city. Champagne arrived first, a necessary indulgence for a holiday tea (in my opinion), followed by a delightful little amuse-bouche. The tea menu, with its traditional blends and herbal infusions, felt like a chapter from a book of London’s finest traditions. The sandwiches, delicate creations with classic fillings, spoke of tradition but whispered a delicious twist of modernity. The scones, accompanied by pots of cream and jam, were perfectly presented on beautiful china. But the pastries were the crown jewels—each one a tiny masterpiece, sweet and lovely, the perfect holiday indulgence. What truly set The Goring’s holiday high tea apart, though, was its atmosphere. The staff seemed to anticipate our needs without intruding. The pace was unhurried, and the experience felt like something out of a Hallmark Christmas movie or a bygone era. If you’re looking for something truly special, something both elegant and comforting, you’ll find it here. It’s a place where time slows, and for a moment, you are entirely present, savoring the grace and charm of it all. ”
“ My absolute favourite place in London quintessentially english. Amazing attentive staff. Lovely birthday surprise in our room. Fab cocktails. Can't fault the place ”
“ Our first time in London and our first dinner as well was a bang! The place is beautiful and elegant. Love the atmosphere and the food! First time to have wellington beef and it was delicious! Thank you for our anniversary dessert! ”
“ Had my first afternoon tea experience here. We really enjoyed every bite. We couldn’t finish all the sweets, but from amuse bouche, mini sandwiches to sweets, everything was super delicious. ”
“ The food was nice and beautifully presented. The Dining Room interior was gorgeous. I hesitated to give all three categories full marks as it felt rushed towards the end when they presented the bill and came shortly with the payment machine when I did not even finish half of the tea after dinner. I asked if they needed the table back right away, saying that I hadn't finished my tea yet. The server confirmed they did not require me to return the table by a certain time and he could come back for payment later, but I paid anyway since he had the card machine ready. I guess it was only a minor miscommunication as other diners seemed to be hotel guests charging to their room, so the server got an order to present me with the bill after the tea order was served. Something funny with their internal communication. The starter was perfect in every aspect. For the main, the sauce served at the table would be better not to be poured directly on the food, i.e. perferred to be served as a dipping sauce on the plate or separately, as the sauce was rather intense and salty when the monkfish was sufficiently seasoned already. Dessert was a good show with flame, taste was just OK. Location was pretty central in London, close to Victoria Station. Overall, very good value for money. Would still stick with 5 stars despite some hippcups that were rectified on the spot. ”
